Some things stick with you

When I was a kid, we had these cassette tapes called "GT and the halo express", which are stories about these angels who help kids and sing bible verses. Each of the tapes has like 10-12 songs on it that are simply a verse put to music. It's been about 15 years since I heard the tapes, but those songs still get stuck in my head, and I guarantee you I will never forget those verses. It really is a very effective way to get kids to learn scripture. Anyways, the one stuck in my head today is Romans 8:28 -

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
I really like to think about this verse when I get homesick, because it encourages me that God has a reason for me living in Indiana, and that it's all going to work out for good.

The Cruise!

My mom and I have been wanting to take a cruise for several years now. But with me being in grad school, and her being busy with work, it just never seemed to fit in. So finally this year we decided to just plan it, right smack in the middle of fall semester, and take the trip even though we were busy. I got back from the trip a couple weeks ago, and it was such a blast! We left from San Diego, and sailed down to Ensenda, and then to Cabo San Lucas. In Cabo we swam with dolphins, which was quite an amazing experience. One of my absolute favorite pictures from the trip is the one of my mom riding around the pool while hanging on to the dolphin's flippers. The look on her face is just priceless. Here are some other fun pictures from the trip:

Coming up with a title...

I've been toying with the idea of starting a blog for a while now, but always put it off for one main reason: the title. How does one come up with a title that describes who you are, what you stand for, and a host of other things in just a few words? So today I was partway through starting this thing, and got to the part where you add the title....and I was stuck. I sat here for about an hour thinking of how I could be clever, but meaningful, and expressive, but not too cheesy. Finally, after exhausting my small store of wit and coming up empty, I remembered something I had read the other day in Psalm 139 about the way everlasting, and how when I was reading it, that phrase really struck me as just sounding so awesome, and like the way I wanted to be going. Well, needless to say, I thought that it would be an appropriate title, since though I often fall short, it's the way I'm striving to follow.
